SURROUND VIEW.

Surround View includes the camera systems Top View, Rear View and Panorama View. Cameras in the exterior mirrors and two wide-angle cameras, one in the front and one in the rear, enable a 360°-panorama surround view as well as a panorama view of the area in front and behind the vehicle.
Top View captures a 360°-panorama view of the area surrounding the vehicle and uses this data to computer-generate a bird's-eye view to facilitate manoeuvring. The wide-angle Side View camera between the double kidney grilles on the front and the wide-angle Rear View camera enable a panorama view of the area in front and behind the vehicle. The Cross Traffic Assistant assists the driver by first displaying yellow beams on the side edges of the image as well as a yellow warning triangle in the presence of crossing traffic.
The camera systems are activated when the car is put into reverse or the PDC button or Side View button is pressed. The images captured by the cameras are shown on the Control Display. The driver can choose between the Rear View camera, Top View or Panorama View. The Side View function is automatically deactivated when the car moves at speeds of 15 km/h or more.

BMW HEAD-UP DISPLAY WITH M-SPECIFIC DISPLAY.

The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific functions projects all information relevant to the journey directly into the driver's field of vision, thereby allowing them to fully concentrate on driving. The display includes data such as speed, navigation tips, Speed Limit Info incl. no-overtaking indicator, telephone and entertainment lists, along with information and warnings from the various driver assistance systems. At the press of a button, the driver can switch to the sportier M-specific display. Along with a digital speedometer, it also shows the selected gear and a multi-coloured revolution counter with shift lights for determining the best time to shift.
The icons projected onto the windscreen are displayed in a particularly high resolution and in full colour. The image's projection appears as if it were 2.3 m in front of the vehicle. This, in combination with optimal positioning, allows the information to be read quickly, conveniently and with minimal distraction.
The brightness of the projection automatically adjusts to match exterior light conditions. Additionally, there are also daytime and night-time settings, and the height of the projection can also be adjusted. Furthermore, the driver can also select which information to display in addition to the current speed and warnings from the driver assistance systems.

BMW NIGHT VISION WITH DYNAMIC LIGHT SPOT.

Excellent vision, even at night: BMW Night Vision with dynamic light spot makes it easy to identify people and large animals at night – even at a significant distance. An infrared camera mounted on the BMW kidney grille transmits images from the front of the vehicle onto the Control Display. The image allows the driver to identify people and animals at a distance of up to about 300 m.
As soon as the infrared system detects pedestrians or animals in the dark, it directs one of two separately controlled dynamic light spots onto them, without any unpleasant dazzling effect. This light ensures that both the driver and the illuminated person approaching are effectively warned of a potentially hazardous situation.
The driver receives additional warnings in critical situations via the regular display and the BMW Head-Up Display. A flashing red icon (animal or person) is displayed if there is an acute risk of collision. An acoustic alarm is also sounded and the brakes are primed for optimum readiness. The warning system is automatically engaged when the vehicle is started. The system even emits a warning when the imaging display has not been activated. BMW Night Vision with dynamic light spot is an innovation from BMW ConnectedDrive.

DRIVING ASSISTANT.

The Driving Assistant package combines the camera-based systems Lane Departure Warning and approach control and person warning with light city braking function.
The Lane Departure Warning detects lane markings and alerts the driver to an unintentional lane change at speeds above approx. 70 km/h by means of vibrations in the steering wheel. The warning is not activated if the lane change is deliberate, that is, when the indicator has been activated.
Whereas the approach control warning with light city braking function detects vehicles, the person warning with light city braking function reacts to pedestrians. If a vehicle ahead brakes heavily, the BMW responds immediately when the approach control warning is activated. The system operates in steps. A warning symbol is first displayed, then the symbol begins flashing and an acoustic warning is emitted, and finally the brakes are lightly applied (when travelling at speeds under 60 km/h). The person warning operates at speeds between 10 and 60 km/h and emits a single-level warning in the event of acute danger. If the system warns of a potential collision, the brakes are simultaneously preconditioned for a faster response. In the event of an emergency, the system applies the brakes. This function can be limited by darkness and fog.

LANE CHANGE WARNING.

At speeds of 20 km/h or more, the radar-based Lane Change Warning detects vehicles in the blind spot as well as vehicles in the neighbouring lane. The driver is alerted to the presence of vehicles in the critical zone by a triangular warning symbol on the exterior mirrors. If, in spite of this, a driver indicates the intention to change lanes by activating the indicator, he or she is alerted to the danger of the situation by a vibration in the steering wheel and a flashing triangular warning symbol on the exterior mirrors.

NAVIGATION SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL.

The Navigation system Professional features a sleek design and a superior range of services: It delivers a simple and easy-to-use navigation system that is seamlessly integrated into the BMW, including the iDrive operating concept and iDrive Touch Controller. The system comprises the hands-free facility with USB interface and voice control, radio BMW Professional with DVD drive, as well as 20 GB of memory for audio files. It also facilitates the use of Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI). PARK ASSISTANT.

The fully automatic Park Assistant represents the latest generation of parking comfort in a BMW. In this generation, the system selects the forward or reverse gear, takes control of steering and automatically accelerates or brakes as necessary. Prior to the parking manoeuvre, the driver merely has to turn on the indicator and then keep the PDC button pressed during the entire parking procedure, along with monitoring the surrounding area with the help of the automatically activated Rear View camera.
Once the manoeuvre has been completed, the system selects the P driving position. When travelling at speeds of up to 35 km/h and with a maximum distance of 1.5 m from the row of parked cars, the ultrasound sensors in the BMW use the Control Display to show potential gaps where it would be possible to parallel park in a roadside space.

BMW SELECTIVE BEAM.

With BMW Selective Beam, driving at night is more comfortable and safer. It provides excellent visibility in the dark without dazzling other drivers. The system detects others on the road and selectively excludes them from the high-beam headlight distribution. Beam ranges of 400 m ensure early detection of risks.
